Taking Hayley only formed in 2010 but you will have no doubt seen them popping up all over the place. The Birmingham four-piece have had a busy eighteen months, and to top it all off they have just won the prestigious Ernie Ball Battle of The Bands and are now playing the sold Vans Warped UK Tour this Saturday.
We caught up with guitarist Levi Keeling back in July. Want to know what he had to say about the new album, the band's sound and indeed name, as well as find out all about Vans Warped UK Tour? Click below...
I have to ask about the name “Taking Hayley”. Hayley comes from the Norse word "haela", which means Hero right? How did the name come about?
We had been mind mapping band names for a while and wanted something with a bit of a hidden meaning behind it. With that Taking Hayley was born.
You guys mix classic pop-rock with synth based sounds; how did that sound form and develop and who are your influences?
When we first started our sound was a lot less sophisticated and in the short time we've been together it has really matured. Our biggest influences are All Time Low, You Me At Six, Pierce The Veil & Panic! At The Disco.
Your album “Tricks And Games” is out now; what can we expect? And why “Tricks And Games”?
This album really has something for everyone from ballads to catch edgy pop rock songs. It's a real mark of how far we've come in a short amount of time. We decided on Tricks and Games for the album name due to self reflection on the last year and a half which has been tricks and games in all aspects of our music career so far.
The Warped Tour returns to the UK after a 13 year absence with
Lostprophets, Bring Me The Horizon, New Found Glory and Less Than Jake
amongst others .
Be sure to catch Taking Hayley on the Kevin Says Stage and if you're not at the tour then watch out for Taking Hayley popping up on Kerrang TV!
