2013 Favourites // Bastille, Interview & Live Review
“Even
being number two, or three or four or five is totally unbelievable. We
literally can’t believe it, it’s the weirdest thing in the world.” Dan Smith,
Bastille
Next up in our look back over 2013 are Brit favourites- Bastille. It’s early evening on Sunday 10th
March and Bastille’s debut album “Bad Blood”, after fending off the likes of
Emeli Sande, has just been announced as scoring the prestigious number one spot
in the Official Top 40 Chart. The band’s recent success may have come as a
surprise to some, however a huge
underground following has made Bastille the UK’s worst kept secret; word of mouth has seen
their fan base grow and grow even before the album release, and quite rightly
so.

Bastille // Live Review, Leeds Uni- Stylus, Sunday 10th March
From the opening murmuring dark undertones of “Bad
Blood” to the final rapturous applause, tonight is electrically charged. This
evening wasn’t about judging if Bastille were a good live band or not (we
already know they are) it was more a matter of just how good they were going to be.
And, more than that, after their album "Bad Blood" was just announced as clinching the number 1 spot, tonight was
about taking a chance to celebrate their success and, for one night only, everyone
in the room being able to ride that wave along with them.

Bastille // Bad Blood, Album Review
Yesterday
Bastille’s latest single “Pompeii” charted at number two in the charts, beaten
only by Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors”, and today marks the release of the much
anticipated debut album “Bad Blood”. A busy week for the London
quartet who are currently on a sell out UK tour.
What started out as a solo project by Dan Smith [who was born
on the French Bastille Day, hence the name] has now turned into a four-piece
full live band. Want to know what we thought
of Bastille’s debut offering? Click below…

French, Bastille Day, hence the name] has now turned into a four-piece full live band with an
E.P out on 30th April and an album on the way. We headed down to The Harley in Sheffield on the opening night of the tour and chatted to
Dan all things touring, recording and having a “wow this is amazing man”
