FUTURE TALENT #12- Taking Hayley

Taking Hayley only formed in 2010 but you will have no doubt seen them popping up all over the place. From securing a loyal and growing fan base to even playing with Mcfly, the Birmingham four-piece have had a busy eighteen months, and it is only set to get busier.
We caught up to have a chat with guitarist Levi Keeling ahead of the band's up coming tour and album release. Want to know what he had to say about life on the road, how the band have matured musically and "Tricks and Games" click below...

Heya guys! Are you looking forward to the tour that you have coming up and what can we expect from the live show?
We're really excited to get back out on the road, it feels like it has been forever. The live show for this tour is going to be a little different from the last headline tour and the concept for the live show I personally love!

What do you like most about life on the road?
There is no better feeling than spending some quality time with your best mates, all doing the one thing you love to do, which is playing shows in different cities.

You guys have only been together since 2010 but have had a whirlwind time having already played sold out tours and supported McFly; have you had time to take it all in and are you enjoying the ride so far?
It's been a great ride and it's hard not to really look back at what we've done and feel a bit proud but at the moment we're working hard planning the rest of the year and start of 2013. Exciting times ahead!
Taking Hayley, set to storm 2012
You supported McFly earlier in the year; how was that experience especially with it being in your hometown of Birmingham?
It was a dream come true! We've all seen some amazing bands which we look up to playing that stage and to have finally done it in just over a year of being together is such a great feeling.

I have to ask about the name “Taking Hayley”. Hayley comes from the Norse word "haela", which means Hero right? How did the name come about?
We had been mind mapping band names for a while and wanted something with a bit of a hidden meaning behind it. With that Taking Hayley was born.

You guys mix classic pop-rock with synth based sounds; how did that sound form and develop and who are your influences?
When we first started our sound was a lot less sophisticated and in the short time we've been together it has really matured. Our biggest influences are All Time Low, You Me At Six, Pierce The Veil & Panic! At The Disco.

Your album “Tricks And Games” is out this summer; what can we expect from it? And why “Tricks And Games”?
This album really has something for everyone from ballads to catch edgy pop rock songs. It's a real mark of how far we've come in a short amount of time. We decided on Tricks and Games for the album name due to self reflection on the last year and a half which has been tricks and games in all aspects of our music career so far.
