Sleeping with Sirens have
been long standing favourites with the Est.1987
so we were pretty excited when they announced their new UK tour in support
of latest album, ‘Madness’. With most of the dates a sell out and with a
stellar line up of 4 bands, including Beach
Weather and As It Is, we headed
down to Manchester’s O2 Apollo to check out them out...
The venue is fit to burst by the
time Sleeping with Sirens take to the
stage and the five-piece errupt onto the stage with an energy to rival the
fervent crowd in front of them. ‘Don’t Say Anything’ kicks off the night and
sets the bar high. As the crowd jumps high in excitement, the band blitz around
the stage and it is safe to say Manchester is glad they’re back.
The crowd hangs on every word;
“kick, kick, kick me when I’m down” they shout along with front man Kellin
Quinn as ‘Kick Me’, taken from the new album, echoes around the beautiful
venue. ‘We Like It Loud’ is up next, and one thing is certain; Sleeping with Sirens love it loud, and fast and relentless. Every time we have seen the band’s live show they
step it up. Last year they toured with Pierce
The Veil on a co-headline tour and we didn’t think it could get any bigger
or better. Tonight, however, the stage is filled with a huge LED backdrop, on
top of which drummer Gabe Barham sits. The rest of the band run up and down the
stage and playfully up and down the LED backdrop jamming out with Gabe in the
process.
The first section of the set was
filled with new favourites from the new album and now it is time to throw it
back a little. Just as tight and succinct as with new and old songs, fan
favourite ‘Congratulations’ is just as infectious as ever.
Stripping back ‘Gold’ to an acoustic version, Kellin’s voice and the melody
of the song shines through. And it isn’t a Sleeping
with Sirens show without one hell of an encore. The fast paced and thumping
‘If You Can’t Hang’ rounds up a faultless set. And as the last crow surfers
launch themselves over the barrier, and the band power out the very last notes,
it is safe to say the everyone leaving the venue will not forget this night in
a hurry.
Bigger, better and with even more
energy than ever before; we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2016 has to
offer for Sleeping with Sirens, but
we have a sneaky suspicion it’s going to be a great one! 10/10
