The four piece found themselves in chain of events difficult to deal with, working so hard for so many years to get within spitting distance of their dreams, only for them to spiral away and out of control. To be capable of touring whilst shouldering a slipped disk, singer/guitarist, Alex Green, had become further reliant on self-medication to deal with the pain which resulted in addiction. It all came to a boiling point when he had a heart attack, aged 27, during the recording of their debut album, ‘Year of the Jackal’. A complete lifestyle alteration was needed, and fast… for some member’s it would prove lifesaving.

The new look Attention Thieves completed the album that almost never saw the light of day and it is by a country mile, their strongest material to date. ‘Year of the Jackal’ is a genuine triumph, both musically and subject-matter wise, littered with passion and irresistible hook-laden choruses.

‘Culture of Fear’, debuted exclusively on last night’s BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P Carter, speaks for itself and is a fitting reemergence from a band who are back in the ring and ready for the next bout.
